From a marketing standpoint, small businesses are like any other, looking to grow while adapting to the changes around them. And while their individual business models and outlooks on success may differ, they clearly know what tools can help them best strive for every goal.

The recent 2025 Small Business Marketing Guide, from Vistaprint, outlines how similar some of those small-business marketing goals are to larger businesses, finding that 4 out of 5 plan on increasing their marketing investment over the next year, with 34% planning that investment toward digital marketing and 33% toward a balance of digital and traditional marketing.

“Looking ahead to the next 12 months, small business owners are united in their desire to continue expanding their marketing, while consumers agree that they want to see more community connections,” the report says.

More than half (55%) are using AI tools with those marketing efforts, with 26% using those tools regularly with such uses as personalization, time-saving, and automation.

“Surprisingly, the least-reported use was support with admin tasks, implying that SBOs are most interested in AI’s creative and content-focused output,” the report says.
