Marketers are at no loss for AI tools to help make their work more efficient, but as MiQ spells out in its recent report, that journey toward full AI accomplishment and success is less a straight-line and more of a winding curve, with one’s position coming down “to the level of confidence we feel.”
“We’re beginning to realize the potential of AI, gain knowledge and experience, and determine priorities and requirements,” says the AI Confidence Curve report, which currently places the marketing industry on the early, still-climbing side of the Learning / Exploring stage, still yet to see the first big rollercoaster-drop into the stages of Using / Testing and Winning / Losing before eventually climbing back up into the Growing / Maturing stage, where “pace of evolution has slowed, and we’re able to focus on productivity and quality.”
The report found that two-thirds (66%) of marketers use AI on most if not all of their projects, on tasks such as social media management (40%), marketing automation (39%), and customer engagement (38%).

“Nearly half of marketers (49%) say they’re fully confident in their knowledge of AI tech,” the report says, “but for those who do say ‘Yep, I’m comfortable with the tech’, only 45% of us say we’re ‘fully confident’ in our ability to use AI solutions to achieve operational efficiencies. In other words, knowing how AI tech works doesn’t necessarily mean we feel ready to use it effectively.”
MiQ recommends the following ways to improve AI confidence and “ensure you’re putting your best tech forward:”
- “Tap into tech that’s built for purpose”
- “Make sure expert tech is used by the experts”
- “Keep up with the pace of change”
