Speed Of Production: AI’s Largest Impacts On Email Marketing

A new report from Litmus has helped illustrate exactly how much impact AI has had on email marketing.

In 2024, most email marketing teams (62%) took two weeks or more to send out a single email.

Only a year later, nearly half (44%) took between a few days and one week to do that.

“It comes down to using AI and automation to create content faster, smooth out feedback loops, and personalize at scale,” says Litmus’ The State of Email 2026 Report, which found that advanced AI adopters were using AI for “automating tedious tasks” and, as a result, more likely than other teams to “deploy emails in under a day.”

Although almost a quarter (22%) of those surveyed say genAI tools had made the most impact on their email marketing strategies, valuable uses extend beyond just generation content. 15% saw the most impact in personalizing email content, another 15% in analyzing campaign performance, and 12% in improving deliverability.

“The email marketer’s job isn’t disappearing, but it’s shifting from hands-on execution to strategic orchestration,” the report says. “Think less ‘I handle one part of the email process’ and more ‘I direct the campaign.’”
