Marketers are well into the holiday season — even as Spirit Halloween stores still appear to keep popping up — and there’s little doubt that AI will play a huge part for shoppers.
Last year during the holiday-shopping period between November 1 and December 31, 2024, Adobe found a 1,300% YoY surge in genAI-sourced traffic. (And on Cyber Monday, that YoY increase was 1,950%.)
Now, with generative AI traffic growing on nearly all YoY comparisons — including 4,700% YoY in July — an Adobe survey has found 38% of consumers have used genAI for online shopping while more than half (52%) plan on doing so this year.
The most popular tasks that shoppers are utilizing AI for include conducting research (53%), recommendations (40%), and seeking deals (36%).

“For the 2025 season, Adobe expects AI traffic to rise by 520% YoY, peaking in the 10 days leading up to Thanksgiving,” says Adobe. “Additionally, AI services are expected to be used most for categories including toys, electronics, jewelry, and personal care.”
