Building Consumer Trust: Why Transparency Is Key To Marketing In 2025

“Trust is the internet’s most valuable currency, and for marketers, it’s fast becoming the ultimate differentiator and growth driver.”

Usercentrics’ new report, The State of Digital Trust In 2025, cuts right to the heart of a concern for so many consumers (and, with it, marketers). 62% of those surveyed by Usercentrics feel they are now the product, and almost as many (59%) said they’re uncomfortable with their data being used to train AI models.

“Consumers don’t trust all brands equally, and nearly half say being clear about how their data is used is the single most important factor in earning their trust,” says the report, which, in addition to that transparency, found users wanting stronger security and data-sharing controls to help improve that trust.

“Brands that communicate clearly and openly from the outset about how they handle data won’t just achieve compliance with regulations, they’ll build credibility and deepen customer relationships and engagement,” says the report. “And in a competitive landscape, trust becomes your most powerful differentiator.
