AI’s impact — reshuffling marketing-strategy priorities, as one recent report on email and social marketing put it — looks like it may be just as strong in the less-frequently studied SMS marketing realm, with a new report showing that more than 60% are using AI for the mobile text experience.
“AI is helping marketers achieve better efficiency with automation and content generation, making the overall experience for the audience filled with higher-quality content and seamless communication,” writes Sergii Diachenko, Decision Telecom CEO, in The State of SMS Marketing 2025. And with 80.4% of all organizations using SMS marketing, at an average of 18.76% of total budgets, that emerging “widespread acceptance” and swift AI adoption shows much promise.
The most common AI uses were:
- Automated segmentation and targeting (31.3%)
- Content personalization (27.2%)
- Handling customer replies (26.4%)
- Predictive analysis (11.3%)
- Sentiment analysis (3%)

“More than half of the companies (64.5%) are planning to increase their budget for SMS marketing in the next year, with 78.5% of them allocating a heavier investment in AI integration,” says the report, which found that AI helped increase conversion rates by 26.6%, engagement metrics by 25.8%, and cost efficiency by 24.6%.
“The state of SMS marketing in 2025 reveals a vibrant, fast-evolving space, driven by AI innovation, strong ROI performance, and deepening customer engagement,” writes Diachenko. “But as adoption grows, so does the pressure to stand out. Brands must strike a balance between personalization and intrusion, automation and authenticity.”
